Step 2a: Creating Form Fields with Values

This article gives step by step instructions on creating form fields with values.  The form fields that require values are DROP DOWNS, RADIO BUTTONS and CHECK BOXES.

Here are the differences between these field types

• Drop down - Creates a drop down field with added values you list for selection

• Radio Button - Creates radio buttons where only one can be selected

• Check Box - Creates check boxes that can have multiple selections applied

SET UP TAB -> FORM FIELDS

Creating Drop Down Field Values - Note: creating values for both Check boxes and Radio Buttons have the same process as below:

• In the FORM FIELD MANAGEMENT, first select SECTION you would like your drop down field to be located, then select the Field type Drop Down 

         

• Now Label field just like in previous article carrying name across Column Header, Confirmation and Placeholder

• Designate placement of field and label by using Form Field Management check boxes:
  • Hide Label - This allows you to hide the label beside or above the field
  • Label on Top - By default, labels are located to the left of a field, this places label above the field
  • Required - With field required, the submitter cannot submit without entering data
  • Enabled - This displays the field, without selecting this, the field will be hidden
  • Start Multi Field Row - This begins a row to add additional fields in horizontal line
  • Add To Multi Field Row - This designates the remainder of the fields to the "start multi field row" field line

• Now it is time to add values (content within the drop down field) by typing in Value and Text Boxes
  • Value - Stored in the database as the identifier for the field.  It is used for reporting and confirmation - NOTE- IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMOVE ALL SPECIAL CHARACTERS IN THIS FIELD (you will receive database errors if there are dashes, punctuation, or any characters besides a letter or number)
  • Text - Displays on Form, actual content in the drop down

         

• When you have entered both sections, then SAVE RECORD and continue entering values until complete
• Once all of the values have been entered, you can SAVE AND CLOSE to complete the creation of a drop down field

NOTE: The same process is used to create values in both Check box and Radio Button fields.
